“Love Yuh Everything (On Fleek)” – Alkaline

Driving to my friends place to get ready to go to a Vince Staple’s concert, I get to talking to my Caribbean Uber driver about Drake’s use of patois on his new album. He said he didn’t mind him but that it exposes dancehall and island culture and people to the globe, like the artist he went on to tell me about, Alkaline. He said Alkaline is the biggest thing in the Islands at the moment. Internationally, it may be Popcaan and others but Alkaline is what all the girls and guys want to hear down there. His style is really similar to Beenie Man, and that’s probably the highest compliment you can pay to a Dancehall artist. That along with, every woman wants to hear his songs at the clubs, like this fire joint right here.
